Summer Focus Reflection by RJ:  The Summer Focus this year was unlike any other experience I’ve ever had. Despite the fact that I had previously been an intern with Project Fortify, and despite the fact that I’ve been on numerous mission trips, this one was still unique in every way. The people, the experiences and all the new information that I was given are all things that I’m positive will be a part of my life for a very long time, and that’s something I’m really thankful for. Working with the two other interns, Joe and Destinee, was amazing. Their love to serve the Lord made working together come so naturally, and we were basically a big family before the few weeks were over. And of course, working with the Estes family is always a blast. The passion they have to show others what they do and the passion they put in to their work is such an encouragement. It’s an encouragement to the ones who come to work alongside them, and to the ones near them who see and are impacted by what’s happening. It was really awesome getting to work with Madison and Eliseo as well. Getting to go through the PUSH program was great, and it taught me how to be a better disciple of Christ no matter where I am. So in summary, this trip was amazing. It allowed us the opportunity to share Christ in a different setting than where we usually are, but it also better prepared us for when we are living for Him everyday.

Summer Focus Reflection by Destinee:  My experience with Project Fortify for Summer Focus was definitely one for the books. It was a privilege to meet and build friendships with the other interns, as well as, grow closer to the Project Fortify team. Those two weeks had me completely out of my comfort zone by helping me take a leap of faith to share my testimony and the gospel with people I knew and some I had never met before. Which gave me an amazing sense of confidence and accomplishment all leading me to feel closer to the Lord than ever before.

Summer Focus Reflection by Joe:  Nothing is more life changing than getting out of your comfort zone in a different country and letting God mold you. You could not ask for a better environment to learn and grow closer to Christ. From being surrounded by loving, like-minded Christians that push you to learn, get out of your comfort zone and hold you accountable. When you are with the Estes family you feel like you are part of it. Christ’s love is overflowing there. Helping with the church plant really pushed me out of my comfort zone. It forced a much more personal encounter with people. I can’t wait to go back to South Texas and Mexico to see what the Estes’ have been able to do with the love of Christ.
