The BCM team arrived on Saturday, May 11th and immediately started preparing for our event on Sunday. The event on Sunday was for kids with cancer and disabilities.  This ministry is also known as Iluminando corazones a niños con cáncer and is run by one of our ministry partners, Jorge Mar.  At the event, the students served everyone hotdogs and chips, played games, painted fingernails, decorated cupcakes, made ballon animals and painted faces.  We also had Disciples of Christ Baptist Church youth come and put on a puppet show. The kids received prizes and each family received hygiene products.  Our purpose for this event was to share God’s love and hope with the kids and their families.  The college students loved on these kids and it was a huge blessing!

The rest of the time we served at Pilar of Hope orphanage.  The students painted two buildings, dug post holes for a fence, moved caliche, made stepping stones with the kids for the prayer garden and spent some time playing with the kids in the afternoon. The students were a huge blessing to the orphanage and to Project Fortify!  Thanks for serving your first week of summer break with us in Mexico!
